A car that is connected to the house. And a smartphone that, in turn, communicates with all the objects in the house. Well, we're not quite there yet. But if Fabian has his way, this is definitely something worth striving for—preferably by tomorrow rather than in the distant future. As Head of the Business Unit Public & Utilities at GAMBIT, Fabian is passionate about new technologies and is often one of the first to try them out in everyday life. He has already transformed his own home into a "smart home" with numerous sensors, small technical assistants, and a Raspberry Pi as a server—covering everything from heating control to the alarm system, from lighting and the TV to the robotic vacuum cleaner. And when he drives to the office from Leverkusen in the morning, he naturally aims to use only the electric drive of his hybrid vehicle whenever possible. But Fabian’s enthusiasm for technology and IT extends far beyond his personal life—it has also shaped his professional career. Starting in 2009, he trained as an IT specialist at GAMBIT while completing a dual study program in Business Informatics at FHDW in Bergisch Gladbach. After earning his bachelor's degree in 2011, he worked as a logistics consultant and in software development. And he didn’t stop there: in 2015, he completed a part-time master’s degree in IT Management and Information Systems at FHDW. He then moved into project management at GAMBIT. "When I come home in the evening, though, I usually don’t even need any technology to turn on the lights or the music system for me—my four children have already taken care of that long before I arrive."
